England’s Lionesses have won praise for their stylish football in Euro 2022, but it is BBC tournament presenter Gabby Logan’s designer wardrobe that is scoring with fashion-conscious viewers.

Her fondness for flared trousers while fronting the coverage has prompted a torrent of comments on social media, with a striking yellow pair proving a particular hit out of the six she has so far modelled.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that the 49-year-old broadcaster’s fashion favourites include garments from upmarket designers Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham but also items from the high-street chain Reiss.

The star, one of the most popular BBC sports presenters, sought out additions to her tournament wardrobe with her stylist shortly before the opening game and paid for all of them out of her own pocket.

The comment-provoking yellow flares, which she wore with a matching jacket for England’s 8-0 win over Norway, are by Ms McCartney, and cost £1,800 from London department store Harvey Nichols.

The outfit, says Gabby, is an ‘investment buy’ she can use for future broadcasting jobs too. So it will come as a relief that it has proved so popular with viewers. One posted on social media: ‘That was a hell of a pair of trousers you wore.’

Another fan joked that the flares could have been worn by a 1976 Eurovision-winning group. ‘Gabby Logan’s trousers are so flared she wouldn’t look out of place in Brotherhood of Man,’ they wrote.

Gabby has also worn two pairs of £195 checked flares by London-based brand ME + EM and two by Sandro, priced at £240, in purple and pink.

She wore the pink ones for Friday’s 5-0 England victory over Northern Ireland, teamed with a different yellow blazer – a £399 number by Maje – a sleeveless blouse from Jigsaw and a pair of Russell & Bromley heels. For Norway’s clash with Northern Ireland earlier this month, she opted for a £450 jumper by Mrs Beckham.

But last Tuesday Gabby decided to forgo her recent purchases. Because it was too hot for trousers, she relied on an old favourite, a Grecian-style frock she bought from Reiss years ago.

Her stylist Charlotte Handley Green said that Gabby had decided at the last minute to delve into her wardrobe to find something cooler she could recycle.

‘We had a Facetime call because Gabby couldn’t have worn what we had planned,’ she told The Mail on Sunday. ‘She found the beautiful dress which is quite a few years old. She tried it on but it was a bit low-cut so we put a camisole underneath it.’

Ms Handley Green said she decided to pair it with a belt Gabby has worn for the Sports Personality of the Year show by Roksana, one of Kate Middleton’s favourite designers.

The presenter also regularly re-wears block-heeled shoes by Gucci which she bought two years ago, as well as old favourites by Gianvito Rossi.

The fashion choices of Gabby’s presenting colleagues have also wowed, with former England player Fara Williams attracting many admiring comments for her colourful trouser suits.
