Sunderland unveil Jobe Bellingham as he arrives on Wearside as he completes move from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee, after enjoying a holiday to France with his brother, Jude, last week
Sunderland have unveiled Jobe Bellingham as their latest summer acquisition after the club announced today that he would join from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee.
Mail Sport reported last week that Sunderland were close on agreeing a £1.5m fee plus add-ons for the precocious attacking midfielder, before the deal was confirmed with Bellingham announcing that he was ‘delighted to sign for Sunderland’ and was ‘grateful to everyone at Birmingham City’.
Sunderland are keeping tight lipped on the fee they have paid for the emerging young talent, but said in a statement today that the 17-year-old has agreed a long-term deal on Wearside and will take the No 7 shirt.
The former Birmingham City academy graduate, who made his debut for the club when he was a mere 16-years-old, said to the club: ‘I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and I can’t wait to get started.
‘I spent many years at Birmingham City and that really helped my development, but now felt like the right time to take the next step.
‘I’m looking forward to working under the Head Coach – I want to learn and develop my game – and I feel like I’m progressing every week, so playing with good players will only help that. The Stadium of Light is the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in and the fans have already made me feel welcome online, so I’m excited to get going and I’m focused on letting my football speak for itself.’
