Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew brings her country style to the big smoke as her co-star Matt Shirvington towers over her at Sydney Airport

Edwina Bartholomew has spent plenty of time in rural NSW renovating a dilapidated hotel over the past year.

So it was no surprise to the Sunrise presenter, 40, sporting a country-inspired outfit as she arrived at Sydney Airport with co-host Matt Shirvington, 45, on Friday.

Looking very farmyard chic, the mother-of-two wore a denim jacket layered over a black-and-white striped T-shirt and a brown maxi skirt with exposed seams.

She completed her earthy ensemble with a leather cross-body satchel, matching duffel bag and scuffed white sneakers.

Her colleague Matt meanwhile towered over the petite blonde as the pair chatted and joked while striding through the busy terminal.

The former Olympic sprinter also wore a pair of white sneakers and slung a black duffel bag over one shoulder.

Edwina and Matt had spent last week reporting from Port Douglas alongside Sunrise co-stars Natalie Barr and Mark Beretta.

The sighting came after Edwina revealed that her country hotel renovation had suffered a major setback due to NSW’s wild weather.

She and her husband Neil Varcoe bought the heritage property in Carcoar, NSW last May and since then the restoration has been dogged by delays which has put the project behind six months.

Speaking to Realestate.com earlier this month, Edwina said recent heavy rains in the area had created havoc, damaging the building and creating a cost blowout.

‘We have had a lot of storms in the area which very quickly revealed serious leaks in the roof,’ she said.

‘We sustained damage to our floors through a big leak in one of the skylights, we lost of couple of windows during a hail storm, and the plaster in one room is literally crumbling off the wall.’

‘As a result, we’ve had to up the pool of funds we allocated to cover anymore surprises!’ she added.
