Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew returns to TV after Seb Costello tweet

Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew returns to TV for Channel Seven’s Emmy Awards coverage … after THAT controversial tweet about Nine News reporter Seb Costello

Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew resumed her broadcasting duties on Monday, after her ‘errant tweet’ about Nine News journalist Seb Costello earlier this month caused a legal headache for Channel Seven executives.

The popular newsreader, who was recently in England covering the Ashes series, flew to Los Angeles to report on the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards.

Edwina wore a sparkling, floor-length gown by Carla Zampatti as she interviewed celebrities on the red carpet.

Before broadcasting live from the event, Edwina took to Instagram to applaud the designer for creating a dress that could accommodate her pregnancy.

She wrote: ‘Praise be to @carlazampatti for creating a size 12 dress that expands to seven months pregnant.

‘Live from the #emmys all morning on @sunrise and @morningshowon7.’

Earlier this month, Edwina found herself in hot water over an offensive tweet about rival news reporter Seb Costello.

In response to footage of Seb broadcasting from the scene of a security scare, she tweeted: ‘Surprisingly articulate for a [censored]’.

Edwina’s post cannot be republished in Australia for legal reasons.

In a statement after the incident, Edwina explained that she was jet lagged and sleep-deprived when she posted the ‘errant tweet’.

She has also personally apologised to Seb for the Twitter post, which was intended to be a private message to a friend.

Channel Nine is now understood to be considering legal action against Seven.
