Sunrise host Natalie Barr left ‘shocked’ by the name of Ash Barty’s newborn son: ‘There’s something wrong there’
Ash Barty and husband Garry Kissick welcomed their first child, Hayden, to the world on Tuesday, and Natalie Barr is shocked by their choice of name.
The Sunrise host, 55, reported the happy news on Wednesday morning and was surprised to hear the tennis champion, 27, had given her son a ‘normal’ name.
While she insisted there must be ‘something wrong’, co-host Matt Shirvington said the name Hayden made ‘perfect sense’ for such a ‘down to earth couple’.
After fellow presenter Edwina Bartholomew announced the birth of Hayden to Sunrise viewers, Natalie looked visibly shocked.
‘There’s something wrong there. Like, what on earth?’ she said.

Matt, 44, promptly replied: ‘It’s a normal name. Down to earth couple, makes perfect sense.’
It comes after retired tennis star Ash gave birth to her first son posting an adorable photo to her legion of fans.
‘Our beautiful boy. Welcome to the world, Hayden!,’ her husband Garry Kissick posted on Instagram Tuesday night.

The official Australian Open tennis social media page responded with a heartwarming message saying it was Barty’s ‘greatest triumph. Congratulations.’
Not to be outdone, Wimbledon’s Twitter account asked: ‘Future Wimbledon champ? Congratulations!’
Ash sensationally quit tennis at the peak of her powers following her watershed Australian Open win in January 2022.
At the time of her retirement, Ash had held the status of World No. 1 for tennis since June 2019 and had just won her third Grand Slam title in three years.
