Queensland sports presenter Katie Brown will be permanently joining the Sunrise team in 2023, Channel Seven confirmed on Monday.

The lively reporter filled in for weatherman Sam Mac in September when he took paternity leave and is said to have impressed producers.

Brown has reportedly signed a two-year contract to appear on the popular breakfast show as a roving reporter, alongside hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch, newsreader Edwina Bartholomew, sports reporter Mark Beretta and Mac.

 The blonde beauty shared the happy news with her 15,000 Instagram followers.

‘Friends, I’m joining Sunrise full-time in January & feeling like the luckiest girl in the world,’ she wrote next to a gallery of photo of herself.

Several Sunrise veterans were quick to congratulate Katie’s exciting career announcement.

Co-host Barr gushed ‘Brilliant decision Katie! Yours and ours’ while newsreader Edwina Bartholomew said it was deserving of a ‘thumbs up’.

The news comes a month after veteran Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch announced his retirement plans last month.

He revealed his departure will be a gradual one as he reduce his number of days on air over the next two years until his contract expires. 

It was revealed he signed a contact extension in October locking him in until the end of 2024, but has negotiated for ‘greater flexibility’ in his schedule.

Kochie inked the deal at a meeting with Seven Network CEO James Warburton, during which he expressed his interest in retiring.
