Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac shocked co-host Natalie Barr on Thursday after he was stung by a bee while conducting a live cross – and swore in frustration.

The veteran weatherman was reporting live from Frankston Beach to cover a sand sculpting championship when his finger was stung.

‘I was just stung by a bee! I just pulled the stinger out, right there, I felt something land on my head!’ a shocked Sam told co-hosts Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington.

He then swore as he explained what he thought had happened, in a moment that was not beeped out.

‘I thought I had been s**t on by a bird, because we are having that type of week. A bee was literally hanging off my back!’ he added.

Natalie Barr appeared lost for words at the shocking encounter and laughed awkwardly as Sam revealed the full extent of his injury.

Sam suggested he should ‘take a moment’ to gather his thoughts before presenting the weather, to which Nat and Shirvo replied: ‘Please do’.

The weatherman has developed a reputation for his cheeky behaviour both on and offscreen.

It comes after Sam was trolled by fans of his ‘nemesis’ Robert Irwin after the wildlife warrior stripped down to his underwear for a sultry Bonds photoshoot.

Earlier this month, the Channel Seven presenter shared a hilarious clip on social media in which he was seen scrolling through several news stories written about Robert’s steamy photos.

Sam looked incredibly frustrated as he read headlines from Sunrise and Bonds promoting the smouldering ad campaign.

He did not mince words in the caption: ‘Stop sending it to me. Stop tagging me in it. Just let me live my life. #Nemesis.’

Many of Sam’s followers quickly took to the comment section to express their amusement over the post.

‘People just want you to top that underwear shoot,’ one fan quipped, as a second added: ‘Too funny!’

Sam has been engaged in a friendly feud with Robert since 2022, after the conservationist filled in for him on Sunrise while he took personal leave.

At the time, Robert spoke about his new gig to co-host Natalie Barr and joked, ‘Sam Mac, I am coming for ya!’

Sam later called Robert a ‘snake in the grass’ and joked the reality TV star was trying to steal his job on the popular Channel Seven breakfast show.

Robert laughed off the jab, but kept the friendly feud running by saying he’s still hoping to replace him on the popular breakfast show.

‘Yeah, mate, I’m still gunning for that position,’ he added.

‘Watch your back. I haven’t forgotten.’
