Sunrise’s David Koch breaks down during tribute for dad

He’s the outspoken Sunrise host, who’s never afraid to go head-to-head with his co-hosts.

But David ‘Kochie’ Koch showed viewers a softer side on Thursday when he became emotional during a touching Father’s Day tribute to his late father Dean.

The 61-year-old recalled losing his father in 2009 after he collapsed while playing golf and suffered a brain bleed and how before his death, ‘he was there’ right by Kochie’s side in hospital when his baby was sick.

‘That was beautiful, it was lovely,’ she said softly.

Kochie’s tribute came after he was asked to do a chapter in writer Claire Halliday’s upcoming book Things My Father Taught Me.

‘I think about him everyday, he’s been my hero and role model and he showed me how important the role of a dad is and what it means to be one,’ he said.
