Sunshine coast bakery launches doughnut coffee cup

First there was coffee in a cone, and now one small town bakery is providing the all-important caffeine fix inside one of our favourite breakfast pastries.

Kenilworth Bakery is the mastermind behind the doughnut coffee cup, a concoction sure to delight foodies and caffeine addicts alike.

The $8 creation is a cinnamon-coated doughnut, lined around the rim with Nutella, and a shot of espresso coffee topped with a bit of milk and foam in the middle.

Kenilworth Bakery owner Jenna Sanders told Daily Mail Australia that the doughnut was created with the help of award-winning Melbourne barista Fernando Santi.

‘Fernando was looking to relocate and wanted to collaborate with us, and we came up with the idea of the coffee cup,’ she said.

With Fernando’s barista talent and Jenna and her father Jeff’s baking skills, they were able to come up with a formula in which the coffee wouldn’t leak through the doughnut.

This isn’t the first time the internet has gone crazy for a Kenilworth Bakery creation.

Just a month ago the bakery went viral after launching the 1kg doughnut competition.

Customers were challenged to complete the mammoth $20 doughnut – available with jam, nutella, or custard – on their own in just one sitting.

Jenna estimates that between 150 to 200 people have completed the doughnut – getting their money back and a plaque on the wall – out of 2,000 challengers.

The doughnut, which Jenna said takes about four hours to make, is still available and now a favourite among families who choose to share the giant creation.

Jenna said it has been great watching the bakery’s concoctions become a hit on the internet and making more people aware of what Kenilworth has to offer.

‘Its really awesome, being from a small country town and getting on the map,’ she said. ‘We just had to be a bit creative.’
