A police stand-off has ended after a man allegedly took a woman and a baby hostage in an apartment complex.

Specialist police burst into the home on Belvoir Street in Surry Hills, Sydney, on Sunday morning and arrested a 36-year-old man more than 10 hours after arriving at the scene.
