His effort came as he trailed 9-2 in the fifth set and saw the second-place singles star put an incredible amount of spin on his shot that saw the ball bounce on Fan’s side of the table before coming back over the net and off the surface to give Moregardh a key point.

Fan was unable to get anywhere the near the ball and appeared just as surprised as Moregardh who couldn’t stop smiling following the moment of brilliance in the Olympic final.

Meanwhile, supporters in the stands broke the silence with roars of appreciation for the Swedish star who was labelled as ‘the magician’ by one Chinese commentator covering the match.
