Swimmer Libby Trickett sells Brisbane investment property for $340,000

Olympic swimmer Libby Trickett sells her one-bedroom investment property in Brisbane for almost $30,000 more than she paid for it

Swimming champion Libby Trickett and her husband Luke sold their one-bedroom, one-bathroom investment property in Brisbane for $340,000 this week.

This was almost 10 per cent more than its asking price, which was in the low $300,000s, reports Realestate.com.au.

The five-time Olympic gold medallist, 37, put the Toowong apartment on the market in late May.

Its prime location and competitive selling price made the couple’s ‘crash pad’ attractive to both investors and first-home buyers.

Libby and Luke purchased the apartment for just over $310,000 in January 2021.

Rising property values meant that just a year later they had no trouble selling it for $30,000 more than that.

The 81 sqm of living space was designed for comfort, and includes air-conditioning, modern architecture and access to the building’s pool and gym.

Mel Christie, of Harcourts Property Centre, said there was significant interest in the property.

Ms Christie added it would cost between $400 and $425 a week to rent.

The apartment was described in its listing as ‘ideal for singles, couples, uni students, hospital workers, and those after a crash pad close to the city’.

Libby and Luke, also a professional swimmer who competed at the 2002 Oceania Swimming Championships, recently moved to Bald Knob, a rural locality along the Sunshine Coast.

They now live in a spacious $2.25million home, which they purchased last October.
