Sydenham house fire: Heartbreaking update after three children were dragged from a burning home in Melbourne

Two of the three young children rescued from a horror house fire have sadly died in hospital.

Two girls, aged five and one, and a three-year-old boy were pulled unconscious from the rear of a property in Sydenham in Melbourne’s north-west after neighbours raised the alarm on Sunday night.

Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes rescued the children one-by-one before all three were rushed to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Police confirmed on Wednesday night that Izabelle, 5, and her 21-month-old sister died in hospital earlier in the day, surrounded by heartbroken loved ones.

Their brother Kalais, 3, remains in a critical condition after he suffered smoke inhalation.

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad are investigating the fire, including what may have caused it and who was in the property at the time and just prior to the blaze.

This investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
