Sydney cattle truck crash sees cows killed by the roadside in Glenmore Park

Several cows dead as cattle truck spectacularly crashes forcing police to put down the distressed farm animals

Cattle had to be put down by the roadside after a truck overturned in Sydney’s west on Monday morning, killing several cows and leaving others with gruesome injuries.

The trapped 36 year old driver had to be cut free from the wreckage on on Mulgoa Road at Glenmore Park but escaped with a minor head injury.

But a number of cows died in the accident and others had to be put down by the roadside after suffering horrific injuries in the crash.

‘A number of cows were located deceased at the scene, and a number were required to be humanely euthanised,’ NSW Police revealed.

‘An operation is currently under way to remove the remaining cows off the roadway.’

The truck was transporting 50 cattle when it crashed just before 8am just past the Glenmore Parkway.

Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry said the truck had an upper and lower deck, and it would be a ‘protracted and long’ incident.

Mulgoa Road has been closed in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
