Commuters are being warned to expect heavy peak-hour delays after a horror smash in Sydney’s west.

A motorist was trapped inside a Toyota Camry for more than half-an-hour after it collided with a ute on Reservoir Road in Prospect at around 6am on Thursday.

The man was freed by fire crews and rushed to hospital with serious leg and head injuries. The driver of the ute was unharmed.

There is a huge emergency presence at the scene and long delays in the area are expected.
