Two city bound lanes were closed sparking commuter chaos, before they were reopened shortly afterwards.

Live Traffic Sydney took to Twitter to warn drivers to expect further delays.

‘There may be short closures of more citybound lanes on the Harbour Bridge as the NSW Policeoperation continues on the deck of the bridge,’ the post read.

‘Traffic is heavy in both directions, especially citybound. Continue to follow the directions of emergency services on site.’

Traffic Sydney later took to social media to reveal the lanes had been reopened.

‘All citybound lanes of the Harbour Bridge are now open after the earlier police operation,’ the tweet read.

‘Traffic remains heavy in both directions, so continue to allow extra time.’
