Sydney horror crash leave five young adults in hospital

One woman is fighting for her life and four others are in hospital after a horror crash in Sydney’s west. 

CCTV footage captured a Lexus speeding down a suburban street in Greenacre before crashing in to a grey hatchback at 10.30pm on Thursday.

The high-speed collision at the intersection sounded ‘like a bomb’ according to one witness.

‘We heard a massive thump so I just grabbed my phone and started dialling triple 0,’ one woman told Nine News. 

A 25-year-old woman who was thrown from the Hyundai hatchback is suffering life-threatening head injuries.

The woman remains in a critical condition with serious head injuries described as ‘distraught’ by a witness.

The 19-year-old man who was driving the Lexus freed himself from the totaled vehicle and fled the scene. 

He was later taken to Bankstown Hospital and is expected to undergo surgery. 

His passenger, 18, was transferred to Liverpool hospital with expected abdominal injuries.

Three people were inside the hatchback including the 25-year-old who was thrown from the car. They were all transported to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.  

Footage of the scene captures the carnage on the suburban street with debris and limp bodies on the road.

‘Every single person on the street was running out together…without their shoes on, in their pyjamas,’ said resident Lillian Aoun.

Residents of the street called up emergency services and freed those trapped in the wreckage.  

They said the speeding Lexus sounded like a ‘bullet’ before it crashed in to the hatchback.  

Blood samples will be taken from all of those involved in the crash as police investigate the cause.
