A Sydney mansion has sold for an incredible $11.5million after a mystery buyer inspected the property via Facetime. 

Recruiter Jason Johnson and his wife, Portia Thomson were hoping to auction off their home in Sydney’s ritzy Dover Heights on September 30. 

But it was quickly snapped up by a 40-year-old buyer, who is believed to work in the mining industry in Perth, after a 20-minute video tour.

‘The buyer saw it for the first time at 3pm on Facetime and he bought it at 7pm,’ Alexander Phillips of PPD told Realestate.com.au.

It is understood the buyer is planning to relocate from Perth to Sydney next year.  

The palatial five-bedroom mansion which features a private resort-style garden and heated mineral pool, had an original price guide of $10million.

Sitting on a 645sqm block, the multi-storey home was purchased for a cool $5.76m in 2018 before it underwent renovations by star designer Yasmine Ghoneim of YSG Studio.

Crowned the winner of the for residential design in the Australian Interior Design Awards and the Design File Awards in 2020, the home has also featured extensively in Vogue living and Belle magazine.

The lavish mansion described as ‘an oasis of calm’ is surrounded by lush established greenery and features a ‘Black Panther’ marble kitchen that flows to a private resort-style garden.

The couple became the talk of the eastern suburbs this week when they splashed $11,235,000 on a new North Bondi pad in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. 

Mr Johnson, founder and managing partner of executive search firm Johnson Partners and his wife Ms Thomson, a sales consultant at MindBody Inc, purchased the new home which traded for just $6.3m two years ago.

The gobsmacking 78 per cent price hike for the property at 99 Murriverie Rd, saw the price guide of $9million dollars thrown out the window.
