Sydney mum posts snap of daughter’s grim room on Facebook

  • A Sydney mother shared photos of her daughters messy room to Facebook
  • Commenters expressed their opinions on what course of action she should take
  • Some lobbied a softer approach while others urged her to kick her daughter out

A Sydney mother has taken to Facebook to vent her frustration over her daughter’s sloppy treatment of the bedroom that was built especially for her.

Fed up with the untidy ways of her child, the woman put photos of the disorganised room up for public comment on Facebook.

‘How would you feel if you built this room for your daughter and she treated it like this?,’ she asked.

‘She’s 24 by the way,’ she added.

Social media users came down hard on the young woman, describing her as ‘filthy’ and encouraging the mother to ‘kick her out’ or start charging rent.

‘No that’s unacceptable. Is she majorly depressed? She has an inhaler on her bed so obviously suffers with asthma yet the dust and debris in that room would be making her asthma so much worst. The dust mites in those filthy sheets would be hell on her lungs. Is there a dog living amongst that mess?,’ one woman commented.

Another suggested an old fashioned heart-to-heart could be the answer.

‘She should be so super appreciative that you’ve built her this space on your property. Maybe talk to her and see what’s going on. She’s 24. I was married with children keeping a spotless house at 24.’

Another agreed that a softer approach might be most effective: ‘Does she pay rent? If she does than really she can live anyway she likes as long as it’s not hazardous. I get what your saying, it would upset me too.’

Someone else thought tough love was the way to go, writing: ‘If she’s 24, kick her out if she has a place to stay or not, she’ll be fine, but she’ll learn a lesson, there’s no such thing as kids/teens/young adults these days learning an easy lesson, they learn the hard way or not at all.’
