Watch out Justin Hemmes and Stu Laundy, there’s a new playboy pub baron in town – and he’s got a model girlfriend to match.

Former high-flying banker Jon Adgemis has turned his attention to pouring beers – and is out to give Sydney’s gaggle of pub tsars a run for their money.

In the past year alone Adgemis’s Jaga Group has splashed out more than $50 million on pubs including The Town Hall in Balmain, The Kurrajong in Erskineville, The Exchange in Darlinghurst and The Camelia Grove in Alexandria.

And last week he swooped on another – The Empire Hotel in Annandale – paying $5million for the popular corner pub.

The suave dealmaker is intent on building an empire to compete with giants Merivale, Laundy Hotels and Iris Capital.

While better known in social circles as the former boyfriend of model Cheyenne Tozzi, Adgemis is the former head of mergers and acquisitions at accounting giant KPMG.

His pub ambitions also received a boost recently with the hiring of ex-Crown Hotels boss Peter Crinis.

Crinis, who stepped down from Crown in July, is regarded as one of Australia’s foremost hotel operators, having overseen Crown’s non-gambling holdings across both Sydney and Melbourne for two decades.

It’s understood he will serve as chief operations boss, with the position to be made formal in December.

Meanwhile, Adgemis’s foray into Sydney’s hotel business has focused attention on his high-flying playboy lifestyle.

As well as a string of model ex-girlfriends, Adgemis has an impressive exotic car collection.

MacKenzie boasts 30,000 followers on Instagram with the pair making a head-turning social debut – via helicopter – at the 2017 Derby Day at Flemington.

Prior to Covid the couple often documented their exotic international holidays and MacKenzie can often be seen posing provocatively aboard Adgemis’s super yacht.

The latest pub in the Jaga Group portfolio is the popular Empire Hotel at Annandale in Sydney’s inner west, which was snapped up for $5million.

Friends close to MacKenzie say she and her high-flying beau are seriously talking about the possibility of marriage and starting a family.

Business sources close to Mr Adgemis, meanwhile, say the former finance wiz is intent on building a legitimate hotel empire in Sydney with several major pubs still on his shopping list.

‘From what I hear the hotels he has purchased so far is just the beginning,’ said an insider.

Mr Adgemis declined to comment, but a rep for the dealmaker said ‘big announcements’ about his hotel holdings and his future Sydney plans are ‘imminent’.

‘There will be some very exciting things with regards to hiring and food and beverage to come,’ he said.
