As Sydney housing prices soar out of reach, many people are looking for new ways to crack the unrelenting market, opting to move to the outskirts of the city.
Bundeena is one suburb offering relief for people willing to change their scenery with a median house price of less than one million dollars at $955,000.
The catch: The village is located 29 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district.
This means it’s a about an hour-and-a-half drive south of Sydney.

Despite the distance, the location offers residents access to the hustle of the city life while also allowing them to enjoy quieter moments by the seaside.
Bundeena locals can get a ferry to Sydney’s Cronulla in 30 minutes as well as a 25 minute drive to Sutherland train station where trains run frequently into the city.
Shellie Boswell, principal of Ray White Bundeena, claims that you can leave Sydney at five o’clock and arrive at Bundeena by six o’clock, domain.com.au reported.
Most home-owners in Bundeena live there permanently while other holiday-house owners tend to visit the village a few times a week as Boswell says it’s all about the ‘lifestyle.’
‘You can still work in the city but when you’re home, it’s like being on holidays. We’ve got beautiful beaches and lots of hiking trails. It’s just a lovely place to live,’ she said.
Prices in Bundeena have continued to increase despite a dip in 2012.
In 2015, the median house price was $917,500 before reaching the current price of $955,000.
There are only two apartment blocks in the village with most houses having views of the ocean or at least a short walk to the shore.

One million dollars can get a buyer a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house that’s a close walk to the beach.
An extra $200,000 is expected for properties with ocean views.
IT worker, Liza Tinker left the Inner West of Sydney for Bundeena after she fell in love with the art scene and community culture of the village.
Tinker now owns an art gallery with her sister where she sells her paintings, prints, cards.
Bundeena is located through the Royal National Park, allowing visitors and locals to enjoy walking trails.
The village also has an IGA, gelato bar, chemist, doctors and cafes to enjoy a bite to eat.
