But if a holiday in LA doesn’t tickle your fancy, United has also slashed their direct flight from Sydney to Houston down to $747 return – running in August.

For Australian routes, United Airlines uses its 787-9 Dreamliners – meaning passengers can enjoy include larger windows and better air quality.

You also might be able to get more shut-eye, as the Dreamliners are quieter than other aircraft.

Virgin Australia is advertising fares from $683 return and Delta from $728 – between April to July 2019.

But it isn’t only the the US that’s on sale, this week budget airline Scoot advertised flights from Australia to Greece for just over $300 one way.

Passengers can travel to Athens for $309 out of Perth, $319 from the Gold Coast and $329 from Sydney and Melbourne, as part of their April sale.

The deal is only around until April 12 – but you can fly at these prices until March 2020.

But there’s a catch – things like baggage and food will cost more. An additional cost of $137 will get you a checked 20 kilogram bag, a meal, drink and snack.

Despite the additional costs, Australians are still coming out on top – normally a return ticket from Australia to Europe can cost anywhere from $1,300 upwards.

A ticket on Qatar Airways for the same Sydney to Athens route in May and June would set you back $1,461 return.
