A notification on Twitter from T4 Sydney Trains warned passengers of ‘delays to services due to a report of smoke inside the rail corridor’.

Commuters have been asked to allow for extra travel time and listen out for announcements as stopping patterns may change at short notice.

Commuters in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs have reportedly been forced onto local buses to avoid delays. 

Many people have taken to Twitter for answers.

‘Something big happening at Edgecliff station? I just saw half a dozen fire and police trucks go past… trains cancelled…’ one person wrote.
