  • A mum found a strange item on her Sydney driveway
  • Many joked it was a bomb while others identified it as a broken vape

An Aussie woman was left in a panic after she woke up to find a mysterious item that looked like a homemade bomb dumped on her driveway.

The Sydney mum found the strange contraption outside her home on Monday morning and took to Facebook to ask other what they think it could be.

Many offered their guesses as to what the item was and some joked it looked like a bomb however it was later identified as a vape or e-cigarette that had been broken apart.

Others suggested the woman call the police thinking the gadget could be suspicious however many confirmed it was just a broken vape

‘Found this lying on my driveway in Clontarf this morning – don’t like the look of it at all. Any ideas what it may be?’ she wrote in a post to the Northern Beaches Living Facebook group.

She included an image of the puzzling item that looked like two cylindrical canisters taped together with wires coming out of them.

‘Do not cut the red wire,’ one woman joked and another said: ‘I know it’s not a bomb but it looks like a bomb.’

‘Call the bomb squad!!’ a third agreed.

Other guesses as to what the object could be included a handmade tattoo gun, a shaving cream dispenser or a vibrator.

Some people joked it looked like the ‘flux capacitor’ referencing the beloved eighties trilogy Back to the Future.

‘It’s a ‘flux capacitor….’ Just ask Marty McFly!’ one man laughed.

Others suggested the woman call the police thinking the gadget could be suspicious however many confirmed it was just a broken vape.

‘Take a photo of it to your local police station for clarification,’ one resident recommended.

‘It’s just the internals of a e-cigarette that someone’s dumped,’ a second guessed.

‘Looks like a broken vape. Don’t handle it without gloves as I found out by accidentally poisoning myself with nicotine. It was a fairly unpleasant experience,’ a third warned.
