Sylvester Stallone attempts to teach Al Pacino how to take a selfie on The Family Stallone premiere

Sylvester Stallone and his family have opened up their lives for a new reality show — The Family Stallone — which premiered on Wednesday with the first two episodes.

The show centers around the Rambo vet, 76, and his wife of nearly three decades, Jennifer Flavin, 54, as well as their three daughters — Sophia, 26, Sistine, 24, and Scarlet, 20.

In the first episode Stallone meets up with his famous pal Al Pacino, 83, for lunch. The Godfather icon reveals that though he knows how to text, he doesn’t know how to take a photo on his phone, at which point Stallone attempts to teach him how to take a selfie.

The show portrays the Hollywood icon as an ‘overprotective’ father who is scary to any boy that his daughters bring home.

That overprotective spirit is on full display during his birthday party, after Sistine plays a pregnancy prank on him prompting Sly to freak out and say, ‘I’m going full Rambo, pal.’

The first episode, titled Meet the Stallones, starts out with Sylvester as he arrives to the set of his show Tulsa King.

The actor is seen mingling with the crew before going over his scene with the other actors.

Sylvester is then seen in a confessional, as a producer asks him how he ended up doing a reality show.

‘I thought ok, I’m on the road so much, I probably have been on the road 60% of my life and looked around and said, “My God, my daughters are grown up.” I’m going, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to just spend some serious time with them, where they couldn’t escape, they had to be with me?’ he answered with a laugh.

Stallone then discussed his intense filming schedule, and how he wants to spend more time with his family.

‘Tulsa King has been a hell of a journey, we shot through the spring, through the summer, it was tumultuous. It’s been a long six months.’

‘Earlier in my career the movie schedules were much longer. 130 days, 140 days. I used to look at that as “Ah, what an adventure, this is fantastic.” And now I look at it as punishment. I don’t want be away anymore, I want to stay around the people I love.’

The next scene shows Jennifer with daughters Sistine, Sophia and Scarlet in their lavish California home.

‘I think you’re nervous to have dad back,’ Sistine tells her mother.

‘I always get nervous,’ she replies.

‘He’s like a fourth child.’

‘When you haven’t been together for a couple of weeks it’s almost like meeting up again. It’s kind of fun ’cause it’s fresh, but then it’s also like you have to get to know each other.’

‘Do you still get butterflies?’

‘I always get butterflies when I see him,’ Jennifer tells the girls.

‘Every time he sees you he drools over you,’ Scarlet says.

‘Yeah, he’s obsessed with you,’ Sistine adds.

Jennifer is then seen in a confessional as she introduces herself to viewers and says, ‘To me family is everything.’

Sylvester then describes the moment he first met his wife.

‘The first time I met her I felt the earth move. I just knew that this is someone unique and special. And 35 years later, I guess I was right,’ he says while chuckling.

It’s then time for Sly’s eldest daughter Sophia to introduce herself to viewers.

‘Being the oldest, I’ve always had this pressure of being very perfect. Being the daughter of a famous person, you’re not just you, you’re also the family. And so you want to make sure that everything you do is right, and just, and morally correct.’

‘And so it’s hard for me to take risks sometimes.’

Her sister Sistine then takes over, and says she loves being the middle child, as Sly calls her ‘fearless’ and says he did a lot to ‘toughen her up’ in her childhood.

‘The irony is she developed such fearlessness that I don’t know if I did such a good thing,’ he admitted laughing.

The family then gush about the youngest Stallone, and describe Scarlet as a ‘wildcard’ and ‘the funniest person ever.’

The girls then describe their dating experience as being ‘rough’ due to their father and his macho man image.

‘Dating when you have the dad we do is rough. The first time a boy came over to meet my parents, he was going in for the first kiss, and I was so nervous but I was excited. And he looks up at the balcony and he goes “Oh my God, what is that?”

‘And it was my dad, standing on the second floor balcony, backlit, so you just see a silhouette.’

Meanwhile Sophia describes him going into ‘full-on Rambo with guns’ if they brought any boy home.

Jennifer and the girls then contemplate what they should get him for his 76th birthday.

The next day Sylvester arrives home.

The girls then look back on their childhood, as Sistine says Sylvester raised them ‘like little military brats.’

‘You get up at 5:30, you do 10 push-ups, You do 10 clean and jerks. Then you swing the golf club. And then once you swing the golf club, you go to the pool table. We’d throw shotput. We’d do sprints in the backyard. He made us very competitive in sports. We add in chess, we add in reading out loud. Of yeah, and then we’d box in the kitchen.’

‘I wanted you to be professional golfers and you all had the potential,’ Sylvester states.

‘Our boyfriends want to play with you,’ Sistine tells him.

‘No, I don’t think so,’ he replies.

‘Why not?’

‘They haven’t earned that privilege,’ he replies to their disappointment.

Sistine then opens up about the difficulties of dating as a Stallone.

‘It has been a bit of a struggle for my sisters and I to even find a relationship. Not only do we have “Stallone” attached to our last name, my dad is also very overprotective and quite intimidating. But now that we’re older and currently in relationships you’d think that he would really want to make that effort and get to know the boyfriend. And that hasn’t exactly happened yet.’

‘This is someone that is very special in my life. I’ve never had a relationship as good as this one before, so it does hurt my feelings that there has been very minimal effort on his part.’

Meanwhile Sly defends himself as he tells the girls: ‘Someday you’ll see that I’m helping you girls. I’m getting rid of these creeps.’

The scene then changes to Sly at an Italian restaurant, as he’s joined by actor Dolph Lundgren and his brother Frank.

The trio then welcome Hollywood legend Al Pacino.

‘Al, stop hiding,’ Stallone tells him.

‘Is this the shoot?’ Pacino asks confused.

‘I don’t know what I’m showing up to,’ Pacino replies.

‘Al Pacino and I crossed paths in 1977. I wanted to do Paradise Alley with him, of course he was busy being the great actor that he is.’

‘But we stayed in touch all the time, and I have the utmost respect for him, and I know eventually it’s going to happen.’

Stallone then teased the Godfather star as he asked, ‘Can you play an Italian gangster? Can you pull that off?’

‘I don’t think I can play it anymore. How do you do it again? Give me a couple lines.’

Stallone then replies with the iconic line from the Godfather, ‘They keep pulling me back in!’ Which Pacino humorously repeats.

‘I saw the podcast.’

‘No you didn’t,’ Stallone replies surprised.

‘I did,’ The Devil’s Advocate star confirms.

‘You’re more tech savvy than I am. You actaully saw it?’

‘Yea, I know. I can text. I haven’t been able to take a photo yet. My son keeps telling me “Send me stuff, dad.” I said, “I’ll ask Sly.”‘

‘You’re such a liar,’ Stallone tells him, before showing him how to take a selfie.

The two then discuss their hair color, as Stallone says he stopped dying his hair while Pacino chimes in, ‘Oh, he’s accusing me of dying my hair!’

‘All bets are off now,’ Pacino states.

‘Now you’re in a reality show,’ Stallone says.

‘Everything happens if you stay alive,’ the actor replies, before joking that has a monologue from Shakespeare to perform for the cameras.

Meanwhile back at home Jennifer and the girls are getting ready for Sylvester’s birthday as they bake him a cake.

At the same time Sistine decides to prank her father, and tell him she is pregnant.

‘I thought this name is kind of silly, but you don’t forget it,’ he explains.

The family is joined by a number of friends as they enjoy the birthday dinner, before Jennifer tells the guests about the cake, which has a ‘life-changing surprise.’

‘I did it because I think you sort of have a hard time accepting the idea that we are getting older, we’re maturing, we’re approaching those years.’

‘It’s not a hard time, it’s like an impossible time,’ he tells them.

‘My kids are still kids, I look at them as kids, I can’t imagine them having kids.’

‘You’re going to have to eventually like the guys that we bring home because they might be your future son-in-laws.’

‘Can I help choose the husband, though?’ he asked, as the girls laughed.

The second episode, titled The Currency of Time, starts out with a family dinner and introduces his brother Frank more closely, who Sly describes as eccentric.

The girls complain about not seeing Frank and how they don’t have a close relationship.

In another scene the sisters get together, and Sophia begins to gush about her boyfriend named Grant, who works in finance and lives across the country. She reveals the pair have been dating for four months.

‘Dating with the last name that I have is incredibly hard,’ she says in a confessional. ‘When I met Grant I knew that he loved me for me.’
