Asked whether she was about to nab the coveted role, Sylvia laughed: ‘You’d have to ask my boss that question if you like!’

The morning after news broke that Lisa had departed the network for a gig at The Project, Sylvia famously paid tribute to her colleague, describing her as an inspiration to young girls.

And on Thursday, the blonde stunner continued to praise media stalwart Lisa.

‘She has been a great friend to me and a terrific mentor and someone I really enjoyed working with,’ Sylvia said.

Lisa wasn’t the only woman the journalist complimented at the event, Sylvia also credited her mother as being the biggest inspiration in her life.

‘She’s my guidance counsellor, my biggest supporter, my very dear friend, she has given me everything I enjoy today in life – a great circle of friends, a beautiful, solid family network, a loving husband, a great job that I enjoy, a career path… just a happy healthy content life,’ she explained.

Sylvia has been touted as one of the most likely replacements to join Karl Stefanovic on the Today desk since Lisa exited after Channel Nine refused to meet her pay demands.
