Today co-host Karl Stefanovic has been called ‘disrespectful’ after he made a bizarre joke about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest children.
While watching footage of Prince William, 35, walking hand-in-hand with Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, on the way to meet mother Kate, 36, and their new baby brother, he pondered whether the kids may be ‘aliens’ or decoys.
‘I think they’re fake kids!’ he quipped to his co-hosts, but after noting he didn’t mean to sound ‘disrespectful,’ Sylvia Jeffreys quipped: ‘Well you are being disrespectful.’

‘I said earlier as well and a lot of people got angry as me, but I do think they are fake kids, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kid this well behaved walk into any kind of establishment,’ the 43-year-old said while the footage aired.
It showed Prince George walking along quietly next to his father, while animated Princess Charlotte smiled and waved at media and other onlookers.
After his comments, co-host Deborah Knight could be heard asking ‘what?’ before Sylvia and entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins concurred: ‘that’s disrespectful.’
‘They are very, very reserved, not like your average Aussie child,’ Deborah conceded.
‘What?’ ‘I think they’re fake kids!’ he quipped to his co-hosts, but after noting he didn’t mean to sound ‘disrespectful,’ Sylvia Jefferys quipped: ‘Well you are being disrespectful’
‘I don’t want to be disrespectful, but they could be aliens!’ he joked again.
When Sylvia and Richard told him that he probably was being disrespectful, Karl asked: ‘Well what kids behave like that?’
Deborah said in reply: ‘Well people with amazing bringing with multiple nannies perhaps?’
Sylvia then joked: ‘Also children who know there’s a whole basket of chocolate waiting behind those doors!’
Karl continued: ‘No but chocolate just makes children go nuts!’
