Take out meal! Clever bear is spotted wheeling trash can along driveway before tucking into scraps

  • A brown bear was spotted pulling a wheeled trash can towards the street at a home in Florida
  • Surveillance footage caught the bear standing on its hind legs as it drags the trash can towards the road
  • After pulling it a short distance, the bear manages to tip the bin over and have a good rummage inside in its search for a tasty meal

A black bear was spotted dragging a trash can down a Florida driveway before tipping it over and foraging inside for food.

Amusing surveillance video captures the moment the bear stands upright and pulls the wheelie bin down towards the street.

The animal then manages to tip the trash can over and sneak inside during its hunt for a good meal, or more likely the leftovers of someone else’s.

The video begins with another bear darting out of shot just as the footage begins rolling.

Clearly, smarter than the average bear, the video is made all the more amusing by the bear’s very human-like qualities.

The animal carefully looks behind him as he pulls the garbage container towards the street making sure that nothing will get in its way of the meal that awaits.

Brett Longo said his home security camera sent him an activity alert and he checked the feed to discover the two black bears in front of his Mary Esther, Okaloosa County, home near Pensacola.

‘Literally just got to work and my phone alerts me. Looks like a zoo in my driveway!’ he wrote on Facebook.

‘I opened the app and saw a black bear bringing my trash can back up to the house. He eventually tipped over the can and started going through it all,’ he wrote.

‘It was full,’ Longo told the Northwest Florida Daily News. ‘That bad boy was to the top.’

‘He was just bringing it up to the house. He was polite enough to move it out of the driveway,’ Longo joked.

‘My wife had thrown out some homemade lasagna the night before, which was passed over in favor of an Arby’s beef and cheddar sandwich wrapper,’ he said.

Black bears are the only bear in Florida and can be found in almost every rural part of the Sunshine State according to Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission.
