Target’s new plus-size range is slammed on Facebook

Target Australia is under fire after releasing a plus-size range that women have called frumpy, ugly, and aging.

The international department store chain received hundreds of comments after posting about its ‘Belle Curve’ range on Facebook.

Women expressed disappointment with everything from the range’s colours to patterns, as well as its lack of office-appropriate clothing.

Many women hit out at the store for making a completely different range for plus-size women, rather than just offering larger sizes in their standard ranges.

‘The plus size range at Target is such a disappointment,’ wrote Jordan Cavanough.

‘I am, and I’m guessing other plus-size women are as well, willing to throw money at Target for good looking, affordable, plus-size clothing.’

‘What we want is really simple, just take the lovely styles you make in your standard ranges and add them in your plus-size range.’

Adrien Hanna agreed, asking: ‘Why not just make all the clothing in all the sizes?’

‘Why do we plus-size and petite need a completely different range of clothing? Seriously get with the program.’

‘Time to change things for the better and get rid of your boring old lady fashions.’

Cath Croxford commented that she found the Belle Curve range to be 'just frumpy' and 'daggy', while others complained that the new line offered few colours other than black or blue

Cath Croxford commented that she found the Belle Curve range to be ‘just frumpy’ and ‘daggy’.

‘The “range” of plus-sized clothes at Target seems to have reduced drastically over the last couple of years,’ she wrote.

‘Nothing gets added throughout the season – I keep checking, but it doesn’t change. There are lots of clothes in your “regular” lines that could easily be done in larger sizes.’

Trish Massie also noticed that there were ‘much more interesting and trendy styles in the 10-14 size range’.

‘Just make them in the 16-20 + size range please.’ she said.

‘The Belle Curve range is very frumpy, long-sleeve T-shirts, leggings, and shapeless dresses are not flatting or fashion savvy.’

Alexandra Feldgen agreed, writing: ‘The Belle Curve range completely sucks! And has for quite some time now.’

‘Maybe three years ago it used to give the standard range a run for its money. Now it has joined the ugly, plain, and boring. Plus-size women want to feel good too!’

The lack of dresses and skirts was many women’s major complaint, as they noted there were few things in the line they could wear in a professional setting.

'Bigger girls want to wear nicer clothes other than oversized T-shirts and jeggings! Step it up Target,' wrote Lisa Shearer in one comment

‘I actually see some lovely dresses, tops, etc in the stores in other sections and see no reason larger ladies cannot have the same,’ wrote Deb Evans.

Allie Tabone said she found the Belle Curve range to be ‘disgusting’.

‘It certainly doesn’t reflect the same effort that you put into clothing selection size 6-16,’ she wrote.

‘Thanks anyway but I’ve taken my business elsewhere.’
