Taser pulled at brawl Melbourne South Morang Football Club

A taser has been pulled out during a brawl at a Melbourne football club after a team lost its grand final game. 

Victoria Police were called to South Morang Football Club in Melbourne’s north-east before 10pm on Saturday after reports of a fight. 

A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening head injuries on Saturday night, Nine News reported.  

The South Morang Lions Club lost its grand final to Banyule in the Northern Football League earlier in the day on Saturday.

Two people were asked to leave after a man pulled a taser out and threatened a group at the club, Nine News reported. 

The man reportedly returned with a group of people later that night, which started the brawl. 

The taser was not used on anyone.  

South Morang Football and Netball Club secretary Tam Howlett took to Facebook on Sunday to address the incident and urge players to remain tight lipped.

‘It’s already bad enough that this has occurred but sharing dirty laundry is certainly not the way to go,’ she said.

‘All the junior, senior and netty players have had successful seasons and if all are true to their word about wanting what’s best for the club, let them celebrate today and presentation night without unnecessary attention and drama.

‘It is about the players of the club and no one else.’

Victoria Police are investigating the incident.
