- Melbourne woman sent taxi instead of ambulance when she called Triple-0
- Kasey Haldane, 30, was sent a cab instead of an ambulance due to a backlog
- She is recuperating but Ambulance Victoria has vowed to look into her case
A woman experiencing excruciating pain in her stomach was forced to take a taxi to the hospital instead of an ambulance due to a shortage.
Melbourne woman Kasey Haldane, 30, was given the taxi ride after she called Triple-0 complaining of ‘severe’ abdominal pain.
The taxi driver Stephen Smith then drove her about 60 kilometres to Ballarat Hospital, reports Seven News.
It is unknown when the incident took place.

‘It wasn’t critical, I didn’t feel her life was threatened at all, but it would have been better if she was in an ambulance with medical support,’ Mr Smith told the television station.
Her father-in-law Andrew Porter told the television station that she was given the cab ride as she wasn’t suffering from any major illnesses such as a ‘stroke or heart attack.’
It was later reported that Ms Haldane was suffering from a kidney infection.
She is currently recuperating in hospital.
However, Seven News reports that Ambulance Victoria is investigating the matter.
