US tennis star Taylor Fritz was cheered on by girlfriend Morgan Riddle as he successfully negotiated his way past the first hurdle and towards an Olympic medal.

Morgan, 26, flew into rainy Paris from sunny Spain where she had been updating her 344,000 followers on Instagram about her bikini party lifestyle.

But it was Fritz who was the main attraction as he stormed to victory in straight sets over Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan on one of the two courts where play was possible due to the torrential rain.

In fact, the poor weather provided rich pickings for social influencer Morgan whose boyfriend was moved to a major court at Roland Garros because of the rain.

He was due to play his match on an outside court, but the game was switched inside to a roof covered court and it gave Morgan, who is not publicity shy, a bigger audience.

Morgan, who wore a blue baseball cap, grey top and a cardigan thrown over her shoulders, applauded every winner hit by Fritz, who has amassed more than $13 million in career prize money.

She also produced a camera to snap pictures of her beau, who she met through a dating app, which are likely to help fuel her own social media profile.

The women, dubbed by The New York Times dubbed Riddle as ‘The Most Famous Woman in Men’s Tennis’ is likely to also see Fritz compete alongside Coco Gauff in mixed doubles at the Olympics.

On Saturday, Fritz who waved at his love and team as he left court, said he had not been expecting to play his match on the famous Philippe Chatrier show court the primary arena at Roland-Garros.

He said: ‘I was taking a nap in the locker room when I got called by our captain to tell me I was going to be moved, most likely to Chatrier.

‘It’s a surprise to go out on Chatrier .So I got ready. All things considered, I played a really solid, clean match.

‘With the rain, I didn’t think I was going to be on until much later. It’s fun. I’m excited. I get to play a centre court match. First time playing on Chatrier, actually. And obviously, get it done today . . . so it’s awesome.’
