Taylor Swift’s friend Gracie Abrams announces Australian leg for her The Secret of Us tour

U.S. pop singer Gracie Abrams is set to head Down Under next year for a series of stadium shows in May.

The 24-year-old indie favourite, who is good friends with Taylor Swift, has included dates to play in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Named after her latest hit album, ‘The Secret of Us’ Tour also includes one show in Auckland, New Zealand on April 29, ahead of the Australian gigs.

Taking to her Instagram on Sunday, Gracie announced the exciting news by sharing her Down Under tour dates and included the caption: ‘I could cry.’

She also added that pre-sale tickets will go on sale on September 6.

The Aussie shows kick off in Sydney on May 2 at Qudos Arena, followed by a gig at Brisbane’s Entertainment Centre on May 6.

The I Love You, I’m Sorry hit maker will then head to Melbourne for a show at the Rod Laver Arena on May 9.

The Grammy nominee will then wrap up the tour with a show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on May 13, and Perth’s RAC Arena on May 16.

Gracie’s decision to include Perth in her tour comes after Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney left the WA capital off their recent tour dates.

Adelaide also missed out on Swift and the former Beatle on their last tours and the SA capital were recently snubbed by Crowded House, Coldplay and Pearl Jam.

Meanwhile, Gracie will be arriving in Australia after her Secret of Us album made a major splash on the charts Down Under when it dropped in June.

Only her second LP, the 13-track pop record debuted at number one after Grace made her first trip to Australia in January.

She ended up playing a series of sell out shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Gracie is the daughter of director JJ Abrams best known for his work on the recent Star Wars and Star Trek films.

She previously revealed her dad likely influenced her to pursue a creative career.

‘[Yes] I think it’s inevitable that it did,’ Gracie told V Magazine as she added music is her ‘true passion’ and she needs it to ‘stay sane.’

‘But it’s not like I was telling everyone I wanted to be a pop star when I grew up,’ she added.

‘I’ve always been a really shy person with bad anxiety, and I definitely never wanted to sing in front of anyone.’

However, the songstress was able to overcome her fears, leaving Barnard College after her freshman year to focus on music.

She released her first single Mean It in October 2019 after she signed with Interscope Records.

She dropped her debut studio album Good Riddance last year.

During a January 2021 interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Olivia Rodrigo told the host that her mega-hit Drivers License was inspired by minor, adding that she was Gracie’s ‘biggest fan.’

Gracie’s mother is public relations executive Katie McGrath, who married Abrams in 1998. She also has two brothers, Henry and August.

Last month Gladiator II star Paul Mescal, 28, has been romantically linked with the pop star. The pair were seen on a London street packing on the PDA.
