One of pop superstar Taylor Swift’s songs has trebled the popularity of Lake District holidays after singing it across the world during her global tour.
The Lakes, the singer’s 2020 hit tune which describes the picturesque Cumbrian beauty spot, then went viral on social media platform TikTok in May, getting more than 3.4 million views with the hashtag #thelakestaylorswift.
It is now is being credited by a holiday company for the the 311 per cent increase in people wanting to go there.
During the week beginning June 19, online searches for ‘Lake District holidays’ shot up by 311 per cent with Swifties desperate to visit the Cumbria beauty spot.
Across the whole of June, the figure went up by 217 per cent, according to UK holiday provider Parkdean Resort.

A spokesman for the company said: ‘Taylor Swift fans are wanting to visit the Lakes as a result of her song, The Lakes.
‘Over the past month, we have not only noticed an increase in search volume, but a spike in Lake District bookings also.
‘With this in mind, the Lake District is seemingly the go-to UK destination this summer for Swifties and UK Holidaymakers.
‘After TikTok went viral in May we noticed bookings started to double.’
Ms Swift’s lyrics read: ‘Those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry.
‘Take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die.’

Ms Swift’s passion for singing about the UK is linked to her previous six-year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn, 32, from whom she split earlier this year.
Many of her songs reference UK locations where it is believed she spent time with the actor – including the Lake District and London.
British fans were left reeling with excitement when Swift wrote London Boy which mentions recognisable spots in the city including Camden Market, the West End, Brixton and Bond Street.
