Team GB star Dina Asher-Smith crashes out of women’s 100m at Paris Olympics after finishing fifth in the semi-finals while Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce withdraws

Dina Asher-Smith admitted she was ‘fully disappointed’ after failing to qualify for the women’s 100 metres at the Paris Olympics. 

Team GB’s Asher-Smith finished in fifth place in the semi-finals. 

Asher-Smith told BBC Sport: ‘I’m just disappointed because I’m in great shape and have been in great shape all season, I fully expected to make that final, the race wasn’t even fast.

‘I know I’m in a lot better shape than that…yeah.

‘I just go on to the 200m, but again I’m fully disappointed. I should have made that.’

Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce didn’t take part in the race after she withdrew. 

Fraser-Pryce won gold in the 100 metres in Beijing in 2008 and London four years later.

Team GB’s Imani Lansiquot also missed out after finishing fifth in her semi-final.

However, Daryll Neita finished in second place in the third semi-final, which means she will be involved in the final.

Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia recorded the fastest time with 10.84 seconds.  

Sha’Carri Richardson, Mujinga Kambundji, Twanisha Terry, Tia Clayton, Melissa Jefferson and Marie-Josee Ta Lou also reached the final.
