- Kane has scored 23 goals, and averaged one goal every 81 minutes this year
- Sky Sports pundits were full of praise for the forward ahead of the game
- Teddy Sherringham drew comparisons with himself and Alan Shearer
After brushing his cursed August month aside, Harry Kane is back in the good books among the Sky Sports pundits ahead of Saturday’s London derby with West Ham.
Tottenham make the short trip across London on the back of a torrid start to their new life at their temporary Wembley home, but are in good fettle on the road, winning both of their Premier League away fixtures at Newcastle and Everton.
But it’s Kane that is stealing all the headlines for Spurs at the moment, with Sky Sports pundits Jamie Redknapp, Teddy Sherringham and Alan Pardew singing the England’s strikers praises, with the latter claiming: ‘He could go anywhere in the world. He’s that good.’
Harry Kane was subject of endless praise from Sky Sports pundits ahead of West Ham clash
Alongside his Spurs team-mates, Kane has elevated his company in Europe as he sits third for his goalscoring record in 2017, behind Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi with 23 goals, netting every 81 minutes.
Redknapp, a former Spurs midfielder himself, also drew comparisons with his fellow pundit Sherringham.
‘Harry is the perfect team player. He has fantastic technical ability,’ he said. ‘If you want to play into his feet, he receives the ball.
‘He gets you out of trouble, scores all types of goals. Very similar to Teddy. (He’s) not blessed with blistering pace, but has an incredible footballing brain.’
Only Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski have bested the striker for goals this season
Redknapp drew only one difference between the pair. Sherringham moans more.
Sherringham though, concurred: ‘He’s got everything I had, and more. He’s got what (Alan) Shearer had as well, not blistering pace but he still goes past players.
Spurs will hope Kane can back-up the pundits’ praises as they eye three points and look to move into the top four behind Manchester City and United, but all focus pre-game remained firmly on the Spurs striker.
‘For me, you cannot ask for more from a centre forward than Harry Kane,’ Sherringham concluded.
