Teen cried and got upgraded to first class after neighbor was watching PORN

A young woman got upgraded to first class after a being seated next to a man watching porn of people having sex on a plane during their flight. 

Melanie Schofield, 19, posted a viral TikTok last week where she celebrated moving up to first class when she complained about the man’s actions to her flight attendants. 

‘When the old man you’re sitting next to on the plane starts watching plane porn so you tell the flight attendants and now you’re sitting first class,’ she wrote on TikTok. 

 ‘Only cried for like 10 minutes so we’re Gucci.’

Schofield told the Daily Dot that the man had made her uncomfortable since the start of the flight, touching her as ‘he took up as much space as possible.’ 

‘Within five seconds of looking at him, I notice he is typing on his phone, ”sex on a plane” and he begins watching pornography of people having sex on a plane,’ she said.  

It’s unclear what airline the incident took place on, or where the plane was flying from or its destination. 

Schofield said she panicked when she saw the man sitting next to her search for the explicit video and then start viewing it out in the open

She said flight attendants didn’t seem to know what to do about the situation

Schofield said she was shaken by the experience but glad the flight crew helped her

Schofield said she immediately panicked and told flight attendants about what was happening. She said the crew didn’t seem to know what to do at first but eventually moved her away to first class. 

‘For the entire flight I was upset and scared,’ Schofield told the Daily Dot. ‘But I’m grateful the flight attendants helped me and that I was able to get out of an unsafe situation.’ 

‘I don’t think the creep was removed from the flight,’ she added. ‘I’m not sure he got any punishment whatsoever.’

Schofield did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment. 

The viral video received many comments showing support for Schofield and what she went through on her flight as they also condemned the man’s actions

Many on TikTok showed support for Schofield and sympathized with her about the disturbing encounter while condemning the man’s actions. 

One TikTok user by the name Carolina Fraser wrote: ‘The fact that u said something is so commendable because a situation like that u can feel so frozen and scared.’

Another TikTok user with the handle Megankaila agreed that the event was traumatic and wrote, ‘Proud of you for speaking up.’ 

A TikTok user with the name Gia also questioned the man’s line of thinking for what he did, writing, ‘The fact that he thought it was okay to do that on a plane????’ 

Another user hoped that the man would be punished for his actions, writing, ‘He’s probably getting banned from that airline.’

But not all commenters were sympathetic to Schofield’s experience.  

There were also some who blamed Schofield for the incident and said there was nothing wrong with the man watching porn in the airplane 

She told Daily Dot that a lot of men were ‘victim-blaming’ her and that she was being ‘overly sensitive’ and should not have been scared. 

‘And some men said I should not have looked at his phone, basically blaming me for the sexual assault I experienced,’ Schofield added. 

One such TikTok user commented, ‘Bruh he was just trying get through his flight,’ while another with the name biasedcause wrote, ‘That’s why females will fall.’ 

One user with the handle name Proma also saw the comment pattern Schofield mentioned, writing, ‘The men in these comments saying it’s normal… I fly a lot and now I’m so nervous if it’s normal to them.’
