Teen Mom’s Ryan Edwards is sentenced to 11 months in jail after pleading guilty to harassing wife

Teen Mom OG alum Ryan Edwards was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail, after pleading guilty to harassing estranged wife Mackenzie Edwards.

Per court documents, obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, other conditions of the 35-year-old guilty plea include that he must ‘wear a GPS monitor’ and ‘complete rehab treatment.’

Additionally, he is barred from contacting Mackenzie, 26, who is the mother of his two youngest children son Jagger, four, and daughter Stella, born in January 2020.

The publication stated that he is forbidden to have ‘contact with [Mackenzie] except as allowed by circuit court’ and can’t post anything on social media ‘relating to’ her.

The diesel mechanic, who rose to fame after starring on the inaugural season of 16 and Pregnant franchise in 2009, is currently ‘suspended on good behavior’ and was placed on probation.

This means he may be released ‘early release to a halfway house or to be under house arrest.’

In March, the longtime MTV personality was arrested for stalking after he texted Edwards, which was a violation of order of protection.

Us Weekly reported that the former reality star was arrested on Wednesday, March 1, for stalking, which is a violation of an order of protection in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

According to legal documents, Edwards texted his estranged wife Mackenzie Edwards (née Standifer) on more than one occasion after being alerted on February 10 that he could not legally have any contact with her.

‘My god I don’t haven’t to live my life without you! Sorry!’ he wrote in one text on February 19.

The father-of-three then reached out to her again in a text February 23, writing, ‘For what it’s worth, I’m sorry and I do miss you.’

That arrest came days after MacKenzie filed for divorce, obtained a restraining order against him, and was granted temporary custody of the couple’s children, Jagger, five, and Stella, two, as reported by E! News.

Ryan was previously served with an Order of Protection by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office personnel on February 9, ordering him to immediately leave the residence where his wife was currently living, police said in a press release.

The following day Mackenzie went to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to report that her estranged husband posted revealing photos of her and accused her of cheating on his Instagram account.

‘If you guys have never seen a spineless s*** this is one,’ Edwards was alleged to have written along with a picture of his estranged wife topless.

He added: ‘They take your money sleep with anything that looks at them. But they must have a wife to [sic]. God what a joke. It’s sad really.’

Authorities then discovered that Ryan had violated the order of protection by contacting his father-in-law.

While investigating the violation, the deputies discovered that Ryan had a warrant for harassment, filed by MacKenzie, from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Police would then arrest him at his place of employment for the harassment warrant and the violation of an order of protection, along with possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance.

Following the social media post, Mackenzie reported to the police multiple instances of domestic violence Edwards has been involved in since they wed in 2017 after meeting at a gym in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Mackenzie told police her estranged husband ‘punched holes in the walls and doors’ and held her up by her ‘neck to the wall’ during a fight last month.

She also accused Edwards of throwing her ‘down in hallway and said if he could not have me no one could’ and ‘opened [his] pocket knife’ and put it to her ‘back like he was going to kill’ her.

And what’s worse: Mackenzie maintained that the entire incident played out in front of their children.

‘I tried to leave, he smashed my phone, took my car keys,’ Mackenzie said, adding that a co-worker contacted the authorities in the wake of the incident.

The Chattanooga, Tennessee native told police that a week later, Edwards was violent with her again. This time she claimed Edwards ‘came into bedroom where [she] was laying down … pretending like he’s going to punch [her] face’ while yelling at her.

She added that after Edwards broke the bed she was lying in at the time, she ‘went to get [her] kids and leave,’ but he wouldn’t let her.

Mackenzie then said he ‘threw [her] down in [the] living room’ and ‘threw menthol nicotine in [her] eyes.’

Mackenzie was granted a temporary protective order.
