Teen ‘raped by inmate during Angola Prison Rodeo’

An inmate serving a life sentence for murder at a notorious Louisiana prison has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl during last month’s popular Angola Prison Rodeo.

According to a report by WBRZ, convicted killer Laderrick Davis, 40, was spotted leaving a restroom with the child at the semi-annual rodeo event hosted by the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, once known as ‘The Bloodiest Prison in the World’ and ‘the Alcatraz of the South.’

Sources speaking on condition of anonymity told the station that when the 13-year-old was questioned about the incident, she allegedly admitted to having sex with the inmate nearly 30 years her senior.

A rape kit was administered and the evidence was sent to the State Police crime lab for testing, the results of which are pending, reported The Advocate.

Officials with the state Department of Corrections have been tight-lipped about the suspected rape, only saying that an investigation has been launched ‘into an alleged incident which may have occurred during the last weekend of the October 2017 rodeo.’

West Feliciana Sheriff’s Office did confirm to KSLA that Davis is being investigated.

However, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said no incident report has been filed and no arrest has been made thus far.

According to court documents, in October 1996, Davis killed Thomas Sanders during a robbery attempt. The victim was found dead lying face down in a parking lot in Shreveport after being shot once in the back.

Davis was convicted of second-degree murder and was handed a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, which he had been serving at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.

After the rape allegations came to light this week, the 40-year-old inmate was hastily transferred to Wade Correctional Facility in homer.

Prison officials attributed the transfer to ‘the seriousness and nature of the allegations’ and said it was ‘for his own protection.’

Proceeds go into the prison’s Inmate Welfare Fund, which helps pay for inmate education and recreational supplies. Only the prison’s best-behaved inmates get to participate.
