EXCLUSIVE

A teenager allegedly stabbed to death while camping with mates has been remembered as the ‘most selfless boy’ – as his accused killer is unmasked.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was camping with friends at Wilton, just past the outskirts of south-west Sydney, on Friday night when he was allegedly stabbed by Jacob Greig, 32, during an altercation.

His body was found dumped in bushland off Wilton Park Road on Saturday morning, with Greig arrested shortly after 4pm after presenting himself at Narellan Police Station.

Greig has been charged with murder and is due to front Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday. Police will allege he stabbed the boy during a physical altercation.

Tributes have begun to pour in online for the young boy, who was a member of the Picton community.

One friend said the teenager had the ‘purest heart and kindest soul’.

‘Last night heaven gained the precious wings of [name redacted].

‘At that same time, we lost the most caring and selfless boy to exist.

‘To my dearest friend, you made the world a better place. Nothing could brace me for this gut-wrenching event. I’ll forever miss your presence and sense of humour.

‘Rest easy sweet boy.’

Another friend said the boy would ‘forever hold’ the memories they shared with him.

‘You’ll be forever missed,’ they continued.

‘Fly high.’

A third friend wrote: ‘You were way too young to leave so soon.’

‘You will be forever missed by this community, by your friends, by your family.

‘Rest easy.’

Greig, a professional chef and father, changed his profile picture on Facebook on Friday – just hours before the boy was allegedly killed.

According to his social media profiles, Greig is originally from the NSW Central Coast, but now lives in the Tahmoor area.

Police believe roughly a dozen young campers may have gathered on Friday evening near the area where the boy’s body was found.

Acting superintendent Tim Calman said state crime officer were called to the location to help as there were ‘a lot of moving parts’.

His family had been notified of his death, Supt Calman said, and were being supported by police.

‘We put our thoughts out to the family,’ he said. ‘They will be doing it tough this afternoon.’

Police are appealing for anyone with knowledge of the incident or dashcam or mobile footage to come forward, as well as anyone who might have been in the area since 6pm on Friday.
