Teenage boy’s life cut short after horror crash in South Australia – as P-Plate driver of the Toyota HiLux survives the nightmare

A 16-year-old boy who died after a Toyota HiLux lost control and rolled in South Adelaide has been identified as four other teens recover in hospital. 

Benjy Weenink, a passenger in the HiLux, tragically died at the crash site. 

Friends have taken to social media to tribute the Year 10 student writing: ‘I love you’ and ‘You’ll forever be missed’.

Emergency services were called to Main South Road in Second Valley on the Fleurieu Peninsula at about 5.15pm on Sunday and treated five teenagers.

The P-plater driver, a 17-year-old boy, along with three other passengers – a 16-year-old boy and two 15-year-old girls were rushed to Flinders Medical Centre. 

The teenagers are understood to have sustained non-life threatening injuries. 

The vehicle was reportedly traveling north on Main South Rd when the driver lost control and rolled. The crash unfolded 2km from the Second Valley Caravan Park, where the teenagers had been staying with their families.

The death of the year 10 student is the 106th life lost on South Australian roads this year compared to 66 at the same time last year.
