A teenage girl was attacked by a man wearing a balaclava but bravely fought him off and ran away, police say.
The 13-year-old got off a bus on Mona Vale Road near Palm Street in St Ives, in Sydney’s north, about 3.45pm on Thursday and began walking home.
Suddenly she was grabbed around the waist by a man wearing dark clothing and a full face balaclava and dragged to nearby Hassell Park.

She was assaulted in the park, suffering minor cuts and bruising to her face, before managing to escape and run away.
Police were hunting the man for questioning and asked for witnesses, or anyone who was in the area, to come forward.
Hassell Park is home to the St Ives rugby club but it’s not clear if the team was training there at the time of the attack.
