Teenage girl falls 8 metres at Port Stephens swimming hole

A teenage girl has been airlifted to hospital with pelvic fractures after she fell eight metres into a swimming quarry.

The Adamstown teen was swimming with friends at Diemars Quarry at Salamander Bay near Port Stephens in the New South Wales Hunter Valley when she fell.

The 17-year-old slipped onto rocks while attempting to jump into the water at around noon on Saturday.

‘The fall was four to six metres onto rocks and then a further two metres into the water,’ a New South Wales Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia.

The girl was rescued by friends and emergency services were called. 

She was treated at the scene by paramedics before the Westpac Life Saver Rescue helicopter airlifted the girl to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

The teenager suffered pelvic fractures and is in now a stable condition.
