A 16-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in January has not been seen for nearly three months.

Sonia Maiden was last seen at her home in Wodonga, 300km northeast of Melbourne on January 8.

The teenager may have crossed the border into NSW and police believe she could be in the Nimbin area.

Family members and police hold concerns for Sonia’s welfare due to her young age.

Police have released a photograph in the hope someone recognises her and can provide information regarding her current whereabouts.

Sonia has been described as being about 160cm tall with a medium build, brown hair and brown eyes. 

Anyone who sights Sonia or has information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Wodonga Police Station on (02) 6049 2600.
