Luke Littler claimed a 6-0 win, while Peter Wright was the big name to exit on day one of the NEO.bet European Darts Grand Prix in Germany.
Littler swatted aside Arno Merk with ease at Glaspalast in Sindelfingen, but only landed a single 180 as he set up a second round tie with a familiar foe.
Teenage sensational Littler will take on second seed Luke Humphries, who beat the 17-year-old in the World Championship final at Alexandra Palace in January, in a mouth-watering clash on Saturday.
Wright exited in round one, as he did in last week’s International Darts Open, after a thriller with Mickey Mansell, which ended 6-5.
International Darts Open champion Martin Schindler started his attempt to win back-to-back European Tour events with a 6-2 win over Gian van Veen.

Raymond van Barneveld was able to roll back the years with checkouts of 148, 136 and 128 on his way to a comprehensive victory over Franz Roetzsch.
James Wade was another high-profile exit, like Wright, in the night session as he went down 6-2 to Ritchie Edhouse.
Earlier in the day, Joe Cullen lost 6-1 to Johan Engstrom, which set him up with a second round meeting with Michael van Gerwen.
Meanwhile, Brendan Dolan edged out Andrew Gilding 6-4 to set up a clash against Gerwyn Price on Saturday.
