A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a girl, 15, reported being pulled into the sea and raped at a beach in Bournemouth.
The boy, from Warwickshire, was arrested on suspicion of rape following a public appeal and the release of an e-fit on BBC One’s Crimewatch Live.
Police said he is ‘assisting detectives with their enquiries’ into the shocking incident, which is alleged to have taken place at around 3.30pm on July 18.
The victim was with her friends playing with a ball when it landed in front of a teenage boy.
He threw it back but began talking to the schoolgirl before allegedly pulling her out into deeper water close to Bournemouth Pier, Dorset.
Despite there being crowds of people in the water and on the pier, the young man then allegedly raped the girl under the cover of the water.
The attacker reportedly told his victim he was aged 17 and had travelled to the Dorset coast from Birmingham.
