Teenager, 18, is stabbed to death in west London as the capital’s murder toll soars towards 70

  • Victim is the 63rd person to be murdered in the capital since the start of 2019 
  • Police found the teenager suffering from fatal knife wound in Shepherd’s Bush 
  • Died in the street and police this morning launched a murder investigation  

An 18-year-old became London’s 63rd murder victim of the year after being stabbed to death in the street last night.

The teenager died in Shepherd’s Bush, west London, after police found him with a fatal knife wound.

Officers, paramedics and the London Air Ambulance tried to save the man after being called at 9.20pm.

But they pronounced him dead at the scene and a stop and search order is now in place in Shepherd’s Bush and Notting Hill as police continue to investigate.

A murder investigation has been launched and police are working to track down those involved in the incident.

Detective Inspector Luke Wyllie, from Hammersmith and Fulham, said: ‘A young man’s life has been tragically cut short.

‘Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this very difficult time. We are doing everything we can to apprehend those involved.

‘Extra police and specialist units are working on the ground now to build a clearer picture of what took place and work to protect and reassure those in the local community.’

The Section 60 order is in place in Shepherd’s Bush and Notting Hill until Thursday afternoon.

Police are in the process of informing the teenager’s next of kin and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
