Quite possibly a preview for the NFC Championship game, the Sunday matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers got testy before kickoff.

Tensions were already high in the re-match of last season’s NFC title bout, but that escalated further when the 49ers ran out onto the field and went through the Eagles doing their warmups.

No scuffles broke out, but the situation looked admittedly frosty as the Eagles’ defensive backs tried getting San Francisco players out of their preparations.

It was the latest in a war of words for this highly anticipated matchup – with San Francisco and Philadelphia looking strong candidates to reach the Super Bowl.

After last season’s NFC title game ended with the Niners losing starter Brock Purdy and backup Josh Johnson, some San Francisco players felt wronged by the finish.

Niners WR Deebo Samuel mocked the Eagles in the spring, calling James Bradberry ‘trash’

Following that loss last year, an anonymous player told the San Francisco Chronicle, ‘It felt like once Purdy got hurt, someone at the league called down and said ‘Make sure the Eagles get to the Super Bowl”

Tensions have been particularly high between Eagles DB James Bradberry and Niners WR Deebo Samuel.

Samuel firmly believes the Niners would have won the game if Purdy was healthy, saying they were ‘100 percent’ a better team and that they lost ‘because we played with ten people.’

The receiver called the Eagles his ‘most hated team’ and called Bradberry ‘trash’ – backing up his talk this week saying he didn’t regret anything he said.

That lead to two reactions. First, Eagles receiver AJ Brown openly invited Eagles fans to ‘troll’ Samuel all week adding ‘You have my permission’.

Second, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni reportedly showed footage of Niners players trash talking before the game.

Sirianni must have been feeling the same way as his players – as he was seen before the game jawing at someone from the 49ers before being led away by officials.

‘It was a lot of boo-hoos last year, a lot of crying, a lot of ‘What if?’ A lot of this, a lot of that,’ the Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick added. ‘They get a chance to come back in here, line that (stuff) up, and prove it again.’
