Tennessee family recording baby’s first steps miss three-year-old toddler wielding deadly weapon

A Tennessee family fixated on the adorable moment a baby took her first steps almost missed a toddler walking around with a giant knife.

Courtney Gaylord from Chattanooga was just trying to capture a heartwarming memory with her baby and family, but a TikTok she posted revealed the instance was far more chaotic than that.

In the shocking video, Gaylord’s family coached the baby as she wobbled through her very first steps.

But the video took an unexpected turn when a little boy stepped into the frame while kicking a large and sharp kitchen knife.

The post’s caption humorously reads: ‘I meannnn, all he really wanted was the leftover icing, can you blame him?’

Baby Elliett, 1 at the time, took her first steps while celebrating her birthday with her family

Gaylord explained the outlandish situation to Newsweek, saying as a stay-at-home mother-of-two, she does not get to see her family from Indiana very often. But they were able to come together for daughter Elliett’s first birthday.

She told the outlet: ‘We live five hours away from family, so whenever we all get together, it’s always a big celebration.’

Since the family was finally together, there seemed like no better time to try to get Elliett to walk from Gaylord’s cousin to her sister.

As this exciting moment was unfolding, Gaylord’s nephew Brady, 3 at the time, swooped in and stole the spotlight.

Gaylord said to Newsweek: ‘He was trying to get the knife so that he could lick off some icing from the birthday cake.

‘We did not notice.’

Elliett's cousin Brody, 3 at the time, stole the spotlight when he stepped into the video's frame while licking icing off a giant sharp knife

Brady was apparently holding the knife until he came into the video’s frame – when his family finally saw that he was doing.

Gaylord spoke Newsweek about posting the video: ‘We shared it because we still laugh about it to this day and the fact that we got it on camera point, so I thought other people might get the chuckle out of it too.’

The TikTok’s comment section is filled with viewers finding the moment absolutely hilarious.

One user wrote: ‘Omg! You might want to reconsider what you use to spread the icing! Hahaha!’

Elliett had her whole family distracted by her attempt at walking and they only noticed Brody had a knife when he came into the video

Another comment reads, ‘Hahaha at least he didn’t cut his tongue off!!! He was living his best life having the best snacks!’

Even though this story could have been horrific, Gaylord and her family laughed it off, as they ended up capturing two amazing moments and no one was harmed.

Now, two years after the video was filmed, Gaylord happily reported that Elliett is a pro-walker and her family is still tightly knit.
