Despite her crushing defeat on Tuesday night against Alize Cornet, British tennis star Emma Raducanu was spotted enjoying a stroll in New York City with a fresh face and a beaming smile this afternoon.

After showing huge promise at last year’s US Open tennis fans had high hopes for the 19-year-old, but she crashed out of the competition in the first round after suffering from blisters on her hands.

Despite the loss Emma was fresh faced and in good spirits as she stepped out in the city with her hair in a bun, wearing a navy t-shirt and silky red drawstring shorts as she explored the city with her team.

At the US Open last year Emma professed her love for New York saying it gave her an ‘open swing’ – after that she had a meteoric soaring to fame and was offered sponsorship deals on a plate from the world’s biggest brands.

The WTA (Women’s Wennis Wssociation) ranked the tennis ace, from Bromley in south east London, number 10 and she was the first British woman to win the Grand Slam since 1977.

She was a wildcard entry at her first Wimbledon, ranked at 300 – but came out of the tournament a household name at Number 4.

However, the 11th ranked tennis pro has clung onto her British number one spot after Harriet Dart lost to Dalma Galfi 6-4 6-0 in the second round of the US Open this evening.

Last year she said she wanted to finish her education, which would prove to be a distraction from training.

On Tuesday night she dodged questions about whether she will continue with US-based Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov going forward.

Last year, she impressed after storming to victory – and was set to be one of Britain’s next female sporting stars.

At the US Open in 2021 Radcanu entered the main draw as a qualifier. She advanced to the semi-finals without dropping a set, and became the fifth player in the open era to reach a grand slam semifinal as a qualifier.

In progressing to the final of the US Open, Raducanu entered the top 25 and became British No. 1.

At 19, Raducanu has a long way to go, her supposed promise may yet be realized, and this year’s US Open may be put down as the defeat that spurred her on to become an even more legendary champion like many before her.
